The Israelites sheltered in tabernacles in the wilderness. Celebrating Sukkot: Feast of Tabernacles | Cedars-Sinai The sukkah (tabernacle) is erected in honor of Sukkot, or Feast of Tabernacles, a Jewish holiday held in the fall to celebrate the gathering of the harvest as well as the Jewish exodus from Egypt. During Sukkot, observant families spend as much time as possible in the sukkah. Tabernacle, Hebrew Mishkan, (“dwelling”), in Jewish history, the portable sanctuary constructed by Moses as a place of worship for the Hebrew tribes during the period of wandering that preceded their arrival in the Promised Land. /// The Feast of Tabernacles during the time of Jesus was full of pageantry fueled with great expectation. It was the “season of our rejoicing” because Jewish people believed the promise of the Messianic Kingdom actually could be fulfilled during this time.
  • Feast of Unleavened Bread

  • The Feast of Unleavened Bread starts on the 15th day of Nisan, the same month as Passover, at twilight. This is a 7-day feast and the first and last days are to be Sabbaths. 1ST COR 7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Luke 22[18] For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. [19] And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. [20] Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. [21] But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table. [22] And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed!
